The Shrewsbury Senior Center under the day to day management by the Council of Aging Director, is the facility through which the programs and services are offered. The Council of Aging Board sets policies and advocates for programs and services which will enhance the well-being and quality of life of the seniors. The Friends of the Senior center is the charitable arm, raising funds for furnishings, equipment, activities and amenities not provided by the town budget or government or private grants.
The Friends of the Shrewsbury Senior Center play a vital role in supporting and enhancing the programming at the center in turn enriching the lives of the seniors and fostering a vibrant and inclusive community within the center. Some of the ways they contribute are as below :
- Organize and fundraise for special events and activities.
- Actively participate in program planning meetings.
- Offering Valuable insights and suggestions based on the preference and needs of the senior community.
Membership is open to anyone concerned with the needs and well-being of our seniors. People of all ages, whether Shrewsbury residents or not, are welcome to join.
